Painted in 1936, Waldichtung Singapur is the only known work painted in Singapore by Theo Meier.
Painted in Singapore in 1936, this is one of the earliest work by Theo Meier during the period of his arrival is South East Asia and one of the exceedingly rare oil on canvas piece produced by the artist in the mid 1930s, Many of his works from that period did not survive the ww2. 1936 the year his arrival in Singapore before making Bali his home. Waldichtung expresses the artist’s deep desire to capture the astonishing sights that inspired him in this new tropical haven, infusing the cross-cultural influences of colors from Europe and the Tropics while retaining the essence of his impressionist style.
